    Our online research turned up an article from the Kirksville Daily Express that reported the construction of the Leeper House in 1884, one of the two early hotels built in Chillicothe as new railroads put the town on the map. The structure went by that name until sold in 1903, suggesting that the fob also has nineteenth century origins.
    While we don't know that the leather fob and the Leeper began life together, w
    e found them residing in the same box at an estate in Los Angeles.  Y
    ou can see from the last frame of our gallery that the leather strap will fit into the slot in the brass piece.
