Antique 19th Century Bavarian Sterling Silver Huntsman Pocket Watch Chain & Fobs
This stunningly massive and heavy pocket watch chain with fobs was made in the mid 1800s in Bavaria, Germany and features thick Cuban chain links, ring closures on both ends and 5 large fobs. One is a an animal's jaw in an ornate silver setting (one chain end not attached to bale), the second is a large beetle (missing one leg), the third is a large natural Citrine gemstone crystal in an oak leaf setting (1 1/2" long). Then there is an animal claw and an 1856 silver coin depicting King Maximilian II of Bavaria (1 3/8" in diameter).
This stylish piece measures 12 1/2" long (chain) and weighs
approximately 140 grams. Stamped with several hallmarks identifying the chain as Sterling and some of the fobs as 800 (80%) silver.
