Description
We are offering for auction an exceptional Victorian era gold filled pocket watch slide chain with a Pyrite fob and a pencil T-bar. This multi-dimensional
watch chain is 14" long measuring from the swivel to the spring ring clasp. The
slide
and joining pieces
are engraved. The swivel is marked W & S B which is the hallmark for the W. & S. Blackinton originally from Attleboro, Massachusetts. This firm was established in 1865 by William and Sumner Blackinton and when they added Louis A. Blackinton the name
became
W. & S Blackinton and Company. It is also marked with a crescent moon and a star. The unusual gold filled T-bar has a
pattern
on one side and opens to a working pencil. It twists in and out perfectly. There is currently no lead. Attached to the spring ring clasp is a very hard to find gold filled double sided Pyrite fob. Pyrite is also known as fool's gold and it is a shiny metallic mineral. Marcasite stones come from Pyrite.
I think this is in excellent used condition. Swivel and clasp work perfectly as well as the pencil. Slide is moveable. All segments of the chain are
securely
attached. Nice and shiny.
